About the book

For most of his life Johny Webb has asked questions that do not make for comfortable conversation: about lights in the sky, about witnesses, and about what a photograph can and cannot prove. Beyond the Extraordinary is his own account of that search.

It follows the road from boyhood sightings shared with his twin brother, through a night drive in Kent, to life behind the microphone as an international radio co-host, and on to a visit to the Netherlands whose photographs, specimens and conversations he has spent years trying to understand.

Then the book turns. The search that took him across roads, countries and radio networks begins to look back at the person doing the searching.

How it is told

The book keeps a clear line between first-hand memory, what other people reported, and what has been independently documented. Where a detail is still being checked, it says so, and a source register at the back lets readers follow the evidence for themselves.
